Been There All Along An autobiography of a Carmelite priest who grew up on the south side of Chicago, returning there after ordination to work with the gangs, civil rights, urban flight, and inner city education. After a number of years and on-going formation courses, Tracy moved to guide the formation of young Carmelites and eventually back to pastoring, this time in south central Los Angeles. Today he continues to be involved in many aspects of the civic and religious life of the parish and Los Angeles.
Pilgrimage to God With insight and hindsight the author presents a renewed vision of the Carmelite tradition of prayer and spirituality. This tradition presents an invitation to contemplation as the real conclusion of Christian maturity for all. Such a pastoral vision for parishes will raise the bar for all the members. The change means a progression in expectations for spiritual growth for each parishioner. The author focuses on one classic in the tradition, “The Interior Castle” of St. Teresa of Avila. Teresa describes most clearly our universal experience of God in the journey of life. Secondly, Vatican II called us to move away from a privatized approach to spirituality to an integrated approach that connects the search for God more closely to concern for justice in our world and our historical experience. The author develops a foundation for this integrated spirituality using Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation “The Joy of the Gospel.”This book is highly recommended for parish councils and parish staffs, school boards and administrations, or to anyone seeking an understanding of the call to contemplation.

The Carmelites of the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary, in allegiance to Jesus Christ, live in a prophetic and contemplative stance of prayer, common life, and service. Inspired by Elijah and Mary and informed by the Carmelite Rule, we give witness to an eight-hundred-year-old tradition of spiritual transformation in the United States, Canada, Peru, Mexico, and El Salvador, and Honduras.
