Remembering Fr. John “Jay” Comerford, O.Carm.

On Friday, September 5, we lost a lifelong Carmelite. Fr. John “Jay” Comerford, O.Carm., grew up in a Carmelite parish, attended Carmelite schools, and went on to minister as a teacher in his hometown and at those same schools. The outpouring of love on social media and at his funeral was a powerful testament to the many lives he touched throughout his Carmelite journey.

Who are the Carmelites?

Carmel is a place – a mountain in the Holy Land or wherever Carmelites live together.  Carmel is a way of life – as Pope Francis has said, “Carmel teaches the Church how to pray.”
