Texting God - Prayer on the Go
There are days.
There are moments.
There are times when you just need to stop… just for a moment.
There are times when you just need to say something to someone you trust… times when you just need to let go of whatever is happening, and the only way to do that is to say it… to give it life and then let it go.
We all have those moments when we just need to express whatever is going on to get past it, but the situation does not allow us to talk to the person we need in that moment… so we text. We text them the emojis that express what we are feeling, or a short sentence to say that you are only getting through because you know that person is always there for you, and you just needed to remind yourself of that fact.
When you get home that night, that person is waiting for you… waiting for you to exhale and let them hear whatever you had to deal with that day… and then carry it away for you.
Say what you will about technology, but maybe that is one good thing it gave us – that person… the one we lean on… the one we need… is always within reach.
Silently. Instantly. Always.
But what if you can’t get away… then what?
Maybe… you ‘Text God’.
You don’t have to reach for your smartphone.
You don’t have to walk away from whatever you are doing.
You just need to breathe… and ‘text’ God… quietly… and breathe.
Maybe you just say to God, “I can’t carry this right now. I need you to carry it for me. I may need to talk through it with you later.”
Later… maybe later that day… maybe during Evening Prayer.
So you ‘text’ God, and He listens.
He is there. He carries it for you.
And then you can breathe… and move on… and bring it to Him more fully in prayer later that day.
His signal is never lost.
His battery is never dead.
His reception never drops.
He is always there… always listening… always ready to carry whatever you need Him to.
So text Him.
You may not hear His reply in that moment – but He is there.
Later… during your prayer time… you will… you will hear His reply… if you listen… you will hear Him.
