The mission of the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary calls us to live “in allegiance to Jesus Christ” through “a prophetic and contemplative stance of prayer, common life, and service…across the United States, Canada, Peru, México, El Salvador, and Honduras.
Our online presence offers a wonderful opportunity to express and live that mission fully. As a Province whose Carmelite Journey encompasses English and Spanish speaking communities, we want the spiritual resources we share to reflect ALL the people and places the comprise our ENTIRE Carmelite family.
With that in mind, we have been working toward a FULLY bilingual website. This ongoing effort already includes on-demand translations the entire text of the site (using the language/region selection in the bottom right corner of your screen) but also an ongoing effort to produce as many videos as possible in both English and Spanish. Through this work, we aim to make Carmelite spirituality more accessible and to strengthen the bonds of prayer that unite our communities across languages and borders.
Now, we are delighted to share our first fully bi-lingual novena series.
In collaboration with the Carmelite Institute of North America, the Province has produced the entire Novena to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux in both English and Spanish. Each day, two separate videos will be posted—one entirely in English and one entirely in Spanish. Every spoken and written element of the novena is presented in the language of that video, allowing participants to enter fully into the prayer and reflection. This shared invitation to prayer gives English and Spanish speaking participants the opportunity to pray the same novena together, each in their native language. It is a concrete expression of our common life and our commitment to sharing the riches of the Carmelite tradition.
And this is only the beginning. Bilingual novenas to Saint Teresa of Ávila, Saint John of the Cross, and others – as well as bi-lingual videos of many of our other resources – are also in development as we continue expanding these offerings! Ultimately, our goal is for every image and video displayed to be language coordinated with the language selected by anyone viewing any page on our website in English or Spanish.
El Novena to Saint Thérèse begins Tuesday, September 22, 2026, on the Carmelite Institute of North America’s website. Visit www.carmeliteinstitute.net for information about signing up for daily notifications as each day’s novena videos become available.
We invite you to pray with us… and to share this invitation with family, friends, and parish communities.
