cloistered nuns,<br \/>Lay Carmelites do not leave behind<br \/>their homes, families, careers, or daily responsibilities.<\/p><p>Instead, they are called to seek God<br \/>right where they are,<br \/>bringing the Carmelite way of prayer<br \/>into the heart of everyday life.<\/p><p>From the origins of Carmel on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land,<br \/>the Carmelite tradition has carried<br \/>a simple but profound calling<br \/>to live in allegiance to Jesus Christ<br \/>through prayer, community, and service.<\/p><p>To be a Lay Carmelite means<br \/>to embrace that same spirit<br \/>as a lay person in the world.<\/p><p>It means learning to listen for God<br \/>in silence and prayer.<\/p><p>It means living with a contemplative heart,<br \/>even in the midst of work, family life,<br \/>and the many demands of each day.<\/p><p>Lay Carmelites gather in community<br \/>for formation, prayer, and support.<\/p><p>They are nourished by Scripture,<br \/>the Eucharist,<br \/>the teachings of the Carmelite saints,<br \/>and a deep devotion to Mary,<br \/>Our Mother and Sister in Carmel.<\/p><p>Different people, different lives,<br \/>different responsibilities,<br \/>but one shared calling<br \/>to walk the Carmelite journey of faith<br \/>and to seek the presence of God<br \/>in the ordinary moments of life.<\/p><p>That is the spirit of a Lay
