Carl se gradu\u00f3 en el JCHS en 1980, donde conoci\u00f3 a los carmelitas durante sus a\u00f1os de instituto. Se dio cuenta de que los carmelitas que prestaban servicio en la Joliet Catholic parec\u00edan hombres normales que se llevaban bien entre s\u00ed y disfrutaban sirviendo a la Iglesia. Decidi\u00f3 unirse a ellos y vivi\u00f3 en la comunidad de prenoviciado de la Universidad Loyola de Chicago durante tres de sus cuatro a\u00f1os de carrera universitaria, obteniendo la licenciatura en Administraci\u00f3n de Empresas en 1984.<\/p><p>El P. Carl se uni\u00f3 entonces a los carmelitas e ingres\u00f3 en el noviciado de Middletown, Nueva York. Tras el a\u00f1o de noviciado, realiz\u00f3 unas pr\u00e1cticas en el instituto Mount Carmel de Chicago, Illinois, entre 1985 y 1987. Posteriormente, estudi\u00f3 teolog\u00eda en Washington, D.C., y obtuvo un m\u00e1ster en Teolog\u00eda Moral por la Washington Theological Union. El padre Carl profes\u00f3 sus votos solemnes en 1989 y fue ordenado sacerdote en la iglesia de San Gelasio en 1991.<\/p><p>Su primer destino fue el instituto Crespi Carmelite High School, donde estuvo de 1991 a 1996. Durante su estancia en Crespi, obtuvo un m\u00e1ster en Administraci\u00f3n de Centros Educativos Privados por la Universidad de San Francisco. Posteriormente, acept\u00f3 el cargo de presidente y director del instituto Mount Carmel High School de Chicago, donde permaneci\u00f3 de 1996 a 2011. Posteriormente fue elegido prior provincial hasta el Cap\u00edtulo General de 2013, en el que fue elegido ec\u00f3nomo general de la Orden. Regres\u00f3 a la provincia en 2017, desempe\u00f1ando el cargo de viceprovincial hasta 2020, a\u00f1o en el que fue elegido prior provincial. En la actualidad sigue ocupando dicho cargo.<\/p><p>La vida carmelita ha aportado al P.
