Desde el principio, dijo: \u201cArrepent\u00edos, que el reino est\u00e1 cerca\u201d (Mt 4, 17). Quienes aceptan la invitaci\u00f3n a entrar en el reino deben comprender sus exigencias. La intervenci\u00f3n de Dios est\u00e1 desatando una abrumadora explosi\u00f3n de misericordia y perd\u00f3n divinos. Esto nos llama a todos a asimilar y compartir la corriente vivificante de la nueva realidad que Jes\u00fas est\u00e1 liberando. Esta gran bendici\u00f3n de la misericordia es un poder sanador que debe compartirse. El perd\u00f3n debe extenderse a todos de la manera generosa y abundante que Dios ha mostrado. Lo que Dios quiere es \u201cmisericordia, no sacrificios\u201d (Mt 9, 12; 12, 7).<\/div>\n<p>El perd\u00f3n es el alma de una comunidad amorosa. Para transmitir esta idea, Jes\u00fas recurre a una par\u00e1bola. Las par\u00e1bolas suelen hacernos quedarnos en lo superficial y pasar por alto la profundidad de su mensaje principal. Esto es especialmente cierto en el caso de esta par\u00e1bola del siervo implacable. Tambi\u00e9n debemos tener en cuenta que el rey es un rey gentil y no sustituye a Dios.<\/p>\n<p>Al leer y reflexionar sobre esta par\u00e1bola, debemos prestar atenci\u00f3n a las grandes exageraciones que se utilizan para transmitir una idea sencilla y clara. Las primeras exageraciones se refieren a la deuda del siervo implacable. En el contexto de la \u00e9poca de Jes\u00fas, equival\u00eda a miles de millones de d\u00f3lares. La s\u00faplica del siervo para que se le concediera m\u00e1s tiempo no era m\u00e1s que otro enga\u00f1o. No hab\u00eda forma de que pudiera pagar la deuda. La generosidad del rey en su perd\u00f3n misericordioso tambi\u00e9n supera los l\u00edmites de la imaginaci\u00f3n. Entonces, tras recibir esa incre\u00edble misericordia, el siervo implacable ataca casi de inmediato a su compa\u00f1ero, cuya deuda es bastante asumible. El segundo siervo presenta una s\u00faplica de misericordia casi palabra por palabra, pero es rechazada. Es encarcelado sin posibilidad de saldar la deuda ni de recuperar la libertad. <\/p>\n<p>Nada de esto tiene sentido si la cuesti\u00f3n es saldar la deuda. Por supuesto, no lo es. La cuesti\u00f3n es el perd\u00f3n recibido y el perd\u00f3n que hay que compartir. El rey no condena al siervo implacable porque le hubiera robado su dinero. La principal queja del rey es que no haya compartido el perd\u00f3n. La pregunta del rey va dirigida a todos nosotros: \u201c\u00bfNo deb\u00edas t\u00fa tambi\u00e9n tener misericordia de tu compa\u00f1ero, como yo tuve misericordia de ti?\u201d (Mt 18, 34).<\/p>\n<p>El mensaje es claro. Se nos ha perdonado. En la econom\u00eda divina, nuestro perd\u00f3n tiene consecuencias. Debemos compartirlo con todos nuestros hermanos y hermanas. Si el perd\u00f3n es verdaderamente un don para nosotros, fluir\u00e1 hacia los dem\u00e1s. De lo contrario, lo anularemos si permanecemos encerrados en la condici\u00f3n r\u00edgida y egoc\u00e9ntrica del siervo que no perdona.<\/p>\n<p>El mensaje es tan evidente que no hace falta explicarlo. Lo decimos en el \u00abPadre Nuestro\u00bb. Lo expresamos en la Regla de Oro (Mt 7, 12). El Serm\u00f3n de la Monta\u00f1a est\u00e1 repleto de sus implicaciones. Y, sobre todo, Jes\u00fas lo pronuncia durante su agonizante muerte. \u00a1Tenemos que perdonar! Si no lo hacemos, bloqueamos el flujo de la misericordia divina. No podemos ganarnos el perd\u00f3n de Dios, pero la simple y dolorosa verdad es que podemos perderlo si no lo compartimos.<\/p>\n<p>El mensaje principal de la par\u00e1bola es una invitaci\u00f3n a sumergirnos en un mar de misericordia divina. La consecuencia de este don misericordioso es nuestra responsabilidad hacia nuestras hermanas y hermanos. Nuestra ambig\u00fcedad nos sumerge en la lucha por dejar atr\u00e1s las heridas. La presencia tanto de la ciza\u00f1a como del trigo en nuestro coraz\u00f3n nos aleja de la exigencia obvia y abrumadora de perdonar a los dem\u00e1s. Incluso con toda la claridad y el poder de la palabra revelada, sabemos lo dif\u00edcil que es perdonar.<\/p>\n<p>De hecho, perdonar es una de las tareas m\u00e1s dif\u00edciles para cualquier ser humano. La inmensidad del da\u00f1o, la infidelidad, la injusticia o el abandono nos consumen el alma. Para la mayor\u00eda de nosotros, el camino desde el da\u00f1o y el dolor hasta el \u201cte perdono\u201d es largo y traicionero. El mensaje de hoy sobre la misericordia divina, tan claro y abrumadoramente justo, tarda mucho en calar en el coraz\u00f3n herido.<\/p>\n<p>Me gusta describirlo as\u00ed. Cuando se trata de la misericordia y el perd\u00f3n, tendemos a usar una cucharilla para medir la misericordia que concedemos a quienes nos han ofendido. Por parte de Dios, la misericordia y el perd\u00f3n son como un aguacero torrencial que lo limpia todo a su paso. El contraste es aterrador, pero muy real.<\/p>\n<p>Hay algunas cosas que podemos hacer para ayudarnos a nosotros mismos en este dilema. Debemos tener paciencia con nosotros mismos y admitir que necesitamos dejar atr\u00e1s el dolor. Debemos rezar por esa persona y por nosotros mismos. Debemos aceptar nuestra debilidad ante Dios y buscar apoyarnos en su amor y misericordia inquebrantables. Tambi\u00e9n debemos hacer frente a otro autoenga\u00f1o habitual: tachamos a ciertas personas de indignas de nuestro perd\u00f3n. <\/p>\n<p>Thomas Merton habla de lo absurdo que resulta intentar determinar qui\u00e9n es digno de nuestro perd\u00f3n. Se pregunta qui\u00e9nes, entre nuestros \u201cindignos\u201d, son personas por las que Cristo no muri\u00f3. Sabemos bien que Cristo muri\u00f3 por todos, as\u00ed de sencillo. Tenemos que compartir ese amor universal en nuestra vida. Sin duda, perdonar nos costar\u00e1 esfuerzo. Pero es una completa tonter\u00eda que tengamos una lista de aquellos que no son dignos de nuestro perd\u00f3n. Nuestra elecci\u00f3n obvia deber\u00eda ser utilizar la lista de Dios.
