There have been various books, articles, and talks pondering whether Jesus would use social media. Some have even imagined what His posts might look like, and what the comments beneath them might become.<\/p>

They are interesting thought experiments, but they leave me wondering about a different question…<\/p>

Would the algorithms actually place His posts in our feeds?<\/strong><\/p>

I\u2019m not asking whether we would choose to follow Him. I\u2019m not asking whether we might occasionally seek out His page or look for what He had posted. I\u2019m asking something that comes before either of those choices\u2026 Would the algorithms show us enough of His content for us to encounter it in the first place?<\/p>

Social-media algorithms learn an extraordinary amount from our behavior. They notice what catches our attention, what we linger over, what we ignore, what we return to, what makes us react, and what keeps us scrolling. They are continually making predictions about what each of us is most likely to engage with.<\/p>

So imagine that Jesus did have social-media accounts, and imagine that we chose to follow Him. Would the algorithm conclude that His posts were the content most likely to hold our attention? Or would other things consistently win? How many of His posts would actually make the algorithmic cut?<\/p>

Perhaps our instinctive answer to the original question is, \u201cOf course Jesus would appear in my feed.\u201d But those later questions may make the answer a little less comfortable. Not because we do not believe in Him. Not because we do not sincerely want to follow Him. But because our feeds are shaped not only by what we say matters to us, but also by the countless small choices we make with our attention.<\/p>

And that raises another interesting question…<\/p>

Would Jesus have an X account?<\/strong><\/p>

Many people choose not to use X, formerly Twitter, and there are understandable reasons for doing so. The platform can be combative, exhausting, and filled with voices we may strongly disagree with. But the Gospels repeatedly show Jesus entering places and conversations that people might rather have avoided. He spoke with people whose lives, beliefs, reputations, or social standing placed them outside the comfortable boundaries of His own community. He did not agree with everyone He encountered, nor did everyone agree with Him. Yet disagreement itself was not always a reason for disengagement.<\/p>

So perhaps the question is not simply whether Jesus would approve of X, condemn X, or avoid X. Perhaps the more interesting question is\u2026<\/p>

Would Jesus go where the people were, even when the conversation was difficult?<\/strong><\/p>

And if He did, would we follow Him there?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
