Nos resulta muy dif\u00edcil comprender hasta qu\u00e9 punto los jud\u00edos de la \u00e9poca de Jes\u00fas se consideraban a s\u00ed mismos el Pueblo Elegido de Dios, con exclusi\u00f3n de todos los dem\u00e1s.  Esto calaba hondo y impregnaba su realidad con una visi\u00f3n clara y un conjunto de normas celosamente guardadas que defin\u00edan toda interacci\u00f3n social con los gentiles. Los jud\u00edos atesoraban su posici\u00f3n privilegiada y \u00fanica entre todos los pueblos, otorgada por Dios.<\/p>\n<p> El di\u00e1logo entre Jes\u00fas y la mujer cananea nos plantea un verdadero desaf\u00edo. Tambi\u00e9n debemos ser conscientes de otra verdad profunda que se desprende de este hermoso episodio. El Dios de Jes\u00fas es el Dios de los jud\u00edos. Fue a trav\u00e9s del Pueblo Elegido como Jes\u00fas vino al mundo. El Dios de Jes\u00fas es el Dios de los jud\u00edos. La fe de la mujer en Jes\u00fas tuvo maravillosas consecuencias personales en la curaci\u00f3n de su hija. Tambi\u00e9n revel\u00f3 una gran verdad para todos los gentiles: ellos llegan a Dios a trav\u00e9s de la fe en Jes\u00fas.<\/p>\n<p> La Iglesia cristiana primitiva luch\u00f3 durante dos generaciones para liberarse de esta atadura de exclusividad. A lo largo de la historia, la Iglesia \u2014al igual que todas las sociedades\u2014 ha seguido generando diversas manifestaciones de este elitismo.<\/p>\n<p> La historia de hoy, tomada del Evangelio seg\u00fan San Mateo, es tan relevante como el \u00faltimo titular de las noticias de la noche.<\/p>\n<p> A lo largo de los siglos, algunas voces cristianas han inventado fantas\u00edas incre\u00edbles para justificar el duro lenguaje que Jes\u00fas emple\u00f3 al dirigirse a la mujer cananea. Sigue siendo lo que es: una muestra del prejuicio ciego de su \u00e9poca. Me gustan especialmente aquellos que afirmaban que se trataba de protocolo y no de prejuicio.<\/p>\n<p> La historia est\u00e1 repleta de protocolos que surgieron de leyes que, sencillamente, ocultaban los prejuicios de la \u00e9poca tras una fachada jur\u00eddica.  En Irlanda, en 1710, una ley establec\u00eda que todos los dirigentes gubernamentales y militares deb\u00edan recibir los sacramentos de la Iglesia de Inglaterra. Esta fue la primera de una serie de Leyes Penales que condujeron a la opresi\u00f3n y la pobreza de los irlandeses durante m\u00e1s de dos siglos.  En 1896, el Tribunal Supremo de los Estados Unidos declar\u00f3 que el principio de \u201cseparados pero iguales\u201d era aceptable ante la ley. Esto dio lugar al sistema de segregaci\u00f3n que intent\u00f3 deshumanizar a los afroamericanos durante d\u00e9cadas con una serie de normas como \u201csolo para blancos\u201d y \u00abla parte trasera del autob\u00fas\u00bb, que se consideraban legales y justas.  Con la aprobaci\u00f3n de la 19.\u00aa Enmienda en 1920, las mujeres lograron finalmente cambiar otra norma y obtuvieron el derecho al voto. Este fue un gran paso en la lucha por la igualdad de las mujeres, que contin\u00faa hasta nuestros d\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p> Cuando esta madre acosada se enfrent\u00f3 a Jes\u00fas, estaba mostrando el camino a los oprimidos de toda la historia de la humanidad. Su acci\u00f3n y sus palabras son una sencilla declaraci\u00f3n de su dignidad, independientemente de lo que los protocolos y los prejuicios de la \u00e9poca digan en contra. En uno de los gestos m\u00e1s conmovedores de todos los Evangelios, se arrodilla ante Jes\u00fas en total vulnerabilidad y le suplica ayuda. Su ingenio le dio la vuelta a las palabras distantes de Jes\u00fas. Sin embargo, al final, fue su fe la que movi\u00f3 a Jes\u00fas a ampliar su misi\u00f3n al abrazar su dolor y sanar a la pobre ni\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p> Jes\u00fas vio y escuch\u00f3 esta declaraci\u00f3n de derechos humanos y emprendi\u00f3 un camino hacia la inclusi\u00f3n que contin\u00faa hoy para nosotros. La gracia y el amor de Dios son para todos. No importa con qu\u00e9 intensidad y alcance se utilicen las normas culturales, jur\u00eddicas y teol\u00f3gicas para reforzar los muros de separaci\u00f3n y aislamiento.<\/p>\n<p> En su sencilla y brillante respuesta a Jes\u00fas, la mujer cananea hablaba en nombre de todos nosotros. Somos hijos de Dios. Tras tres enfrentamientos, Jes\u00fas vio la luz y celebr\u00f3 la verdad que ella expresaba a trav\u00e9s de su fe.  Su hija qued\u00f3 curada. Todos nosotros contribuimos a esa curaci\u00f3n cada vez que vamos m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los protocolos aceptados y los prejuicios legalizados, y acogemos la humanidad del \u201cexcluido\u201d. No importa si el excluido es el inmigrante irregular, el musulm\u00e1n, el gay o la lesbiana, o quiz\u00e1 simplemente una suegra o un suegro.<\/p>\n<p> En nuestros d\u00edas, y a lo largo de toda la historia del cristianismo, hemos utilizado etiquetas en nombre de la justicia para ocultar el odio y todo tipo de discriminaci\u00f3n y actos deshumanizadores. El antisemitismo se ha proclamado y practicado a lo largo de la historia en nombre de la religi\u00f3n cristiana. En la historia de Estados Unidos, hemos fomentado constantemente la hostilidad hacia los inmigrantes en nombre de la verdadera fe cristiana. Hoy en d\u00eda, el racismo y todo tipo de hostilidad hacia los inmigrantes se esconden tras la honorable etiqueta del nacionalismo cristiano.<\/p>\n<p> El mensaje del Evangelio de hoy nos invita a ir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la simplicidad de las etiquetas para llegar a la realidad de la presencia de Dios en cada ser humano.<\/p>\n<p><span> El coraz\u00f3n humano tiene una capacidad aparentemente ilimitada para dividirnos entre \u201cnosotros\u201d y \u201cellos\u201d.   El mensaje del Evangelio de hoy es una invitaci\u00f3n a alejarnos de la interpretaci\u00f3n \u00abde sentido com\u00fan\u00bb de la realidad para adentrarnos en la maravilla del mensaje evang\u00e9lico que Jes\u00fas nos muestra hoy como ejemplo.
