The lives of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/carmelites.net\/the-carmelite-calendar-of-the-saints\/\">Carmelite Saints<\/a> are models of how to live one\u2019s faith following the teachings of Jesus. Carmel is a place \u2013 a mountain in the Holy Land or wherever Carmelites live together.\u00a0 Carmel is a way of life \u2013 as Pope Francis has said, \u201cCarmel teaches the Church how to pray.\u201d\u00a0 The Carmelite Journey is one of Prayer, Community, and Ministry.<\/p><p>The Carmelites of the Most Pure Heart of Mary are a religious Order within the Catholic Church, who follow an 800-year-old tradition of spirituality. They follow the prophet Elijah to seek, live, and invite other to God\u2019s presence and justice. They follow Mary to be open and help open others to God\u2019s love. Carmelites follow Jesus\u00a0 Christ by living the evangelical vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience. General of the Order, opened the Order to women.\u00a0 Some of these women gathered into cloistered (enclosed) communities focused on prayer.\u00a0 These enclosed communities are called monasteries or
