Ein alter Titel von Maria ist "Stella Maris" (Stern des Meeres), der sich auch auf den Nordstern bezieht. Die Seefahrer nutzten diesen Stern, um sich auf dem Meer zurechtzufinden, und stellten die Verbindung her, dass Maria uns führen und uns helfen wird, unseren Weg zu finden. Viele Karmeliten werden für den priesterlichen Dienst geweiht. Hier tauft Pater Gregory während der Osternacht in der Kirche Saint Paul's in Gurnee, Illinois. Pater Quinn Conners, O.Carm., ist der Novizenmeister im Noviziat in Middletown, NY. Während der Zeremonie der Feierlichen Gelübde wirft sich der Karmelit, der die ewigen Gelübde der Armut, der Keuschheit und des Gehorsams ablegen will, nieder, um seine Demut zu zeigen und Gott um Hilfe bei der Erfüllung seiner Gelübde zu bitten.
